When Is the Best Time to Book Newborn Photos? (And Why You Shouldn’t Wait)
Bringing a newborn into the world is a whirlwind of emotions and adjustments! Many parents want to capture those first precious days but aren’t sure when to book their newborn session. Why Timing Matters: Newborn photography is all about capturing those sleepy, curled-up poses that only last for a short window of time. Babies grow and change rapidly in the first few weeks, so timing is key! HOWEVER, don't let anyone tell you it's too late to capture your sweet baby. I have had babies from 4 days old to 4 MONTHS old (thanks to a certain virus we won't mention here) in the studio for a newborn session and we always make it work!
The Ideal Timeframe for Newborn Photos: 📅 Days 5-14: This is the sweet spot! Newborns are still very sleepy and naturally curl up into those adorable womb-like poses. Their skin is usually clear, and they are easier to soothe during the session.
Weeks 3-4: It’s still possible to capture beautiful newborn images, but your baby will likely be more alert and stretching out more. Some poses may be more challenging, but we can still focus on sweet details and connections with parents.
After 4 Weeks: If you’ve missed the traditional newborn window, don’t worry! While we may not get the classic sleepy poses, we can still create stunning lifestyle images that showcase your baby’s personality and family connection.
